Rotations
Clinical rotations are designed to provide the educational experiences necessary to achieve clinical competence in the broad field of Emergency Medicine. The rotations are structured in a way to lay the foundation during intern year, progressing responsibility throughout the rest of residency. We offer two different Pediatric EM rotations in hopes of exposing our residents to not only the incredibly acute pathology in our surrounding community, but also that of a different hospital with an entirely different population.

During Emergency Medicine blocks, the amount of shifts varies by year:
-
PGY-1: 17 shifts
-
PGY-2: 16 shifts
-
PGY-3: 15 shifts

All shifts are 12 Hours long with the exception of peri-conference shifts. We are fortunate enough as a department to be able to secure Tuesday nights off and conference days free for all residents rotating in the department. The shifts on these days are:
-
Tuesday swing shifts (11a-9p)
-
Wednesday shifts (2p-10p; 9p-7a)

-
PGY-2 orthopedics rotation would be swapped out for MICU.
-
PGY-3 Admin (2 weeks) swapped for MICU and International Elective (4 weeks) swapped for CCM.
-
Supplemented with journal clubs and didactics with our EM/IM/CC boarded faculty.
