Didactics are held weekly on Wednesdays from 8AM-1PM. Didactics utilize resident and faculty lectures, gamification, small group exercises, as well as a variety of other activities, addressing the unique methods of learning of each of our residents. Additionally conferences are occasionally held in nearby Prospect Park, virtually, or together with other NYC residency programs at the biannually AllNYC EM events.

Led by our accomplished simulation team, Dr. Rickman and Dr. Holcomb, weekly morning and afternoon simulation sessions are held on didactic days in our simulation lab. In the beginning of the academic year, individualized "procedure days" are held for each PGY class, culminating in a year-end procedure assessment. Additionally, large group simulation sessions are held sporadically throughout the year during didactic days including a Mega Code and an Active Shooter Simulation. 

Led by Ultrasound Director Dr. Kessel, the Ultrasound division has assured that our residents graduate with second to none education on all things emergency medicine ultrasound. Lectures are given by ultrasound faculty during didactics on a block-related topic once a month, bedside teaching is done on scanning shifts, and QA sessions held every Monday are comprised of scan reviews from the week that serve as the platform for content review. The year is capped off with our annual "Sonocup" where our residents compete in teams through various stations to put their skills to work!

Morning Reports are held daily during the week at 7:15AM by a randomly assigned resident who is working in the Emergency Department. Attended by all staff available to attend (attendings, residents, midlevels, nurses, etc.), the topic is chosen by the resident usually based off an interesting case encountered in the department during their rotation.
